We are thrilled to share some incredible news: GameChanger Charity has been selected by California State Senator Tony Strickland as the Nonprofit of the Year for Senate District 36!
This honor recognizes the heart, hustle, and hope that our all-volunteer team brings to children facing life-threatening illness every single day. Founder Jim Carol and the GameChanger team will travel to Sacramento on May 20 to celebrate alongside other honorees at a special ceremony at the California State Capitol.
“GameChanger Charity exemplifies the spirit of service and innovation that strengthens our communities,” said Senator Strickland. “I’m proud to recognize Jim, his son Taylor, and their dedicated team of volunteers who are committed to bringing laughter and smiles to hospitalized children.”
What started as a deeply personal mission — rooted in Taylor’s own battle with pediatric cancer — has grown over nearly two decades into a global movement. Today, GameChanger supports more than 25,000 children across 250+ hospitals on five continents, delivering game rooms, in-room technology, equine therapy, stress-reduction research, scholarships for survivors, and so much more.
And we do it all as volunteers, with 96% of every dollar going directly to the mission.
“This recognition reflects the resilience of the children and families we serve, as well as the dedication of our volunteers and partners,” said Jim Carol. “We remain committed to delivering hope and healing to every child we reach.”
To every donor, volunteer, hospital partner, and supporter who has been part of this journey — thank you. This award belongs to all of us.
Hope lives here. 💙
